【Backup ring】
Backup ring is often used in high-pressure environments to prevent O-ring or oil seal from getting squeezed out. It serves to support O-rings, ensuring it doesn't deform and extrude beyond its groove under pressure. This guarantees a stable operation of the sealing system, minimizing the chances of damage and leaks.

If the high pressure comes from one direction, placing a backup ring on the low-pressure side is sufficient. If the high pressure comes from both directions, it is recommended to use two backup rings, one on each side of the O-ring.
